"Captivating" Chapter 1 The Heart of a Woman
Most of us have felt pressures from the world to "be more" or "be less", "try harder"....Can you relate to this feeling? Do you believe that this message is from God? If you were to replace that message that the world is sending you, what do you think God really thinks and feels about you?Eldredge wrote in the study guide, "God did not place these longings in our hearts to torment us. Rather, they reveal the secret of who we truly are and the role that is ours to play. There is so much hope here, hope to become the woman you secretly long to be, the woman who is romanced, irreplaceable, and utterly beautiful!" What does this make you feel?

I can totally relate to the feeling of needing to be more or do more or be better at something....at everything! I know this is not of God....I think he would say "follow your heart, do as your heart desires" I think we have a God who truly desires to see us be happy. Like parents to children - he wants us to find joy in our lives. I think he would also want us to love OURSELVES like he loves us.
ReplyDeleteI definitely feel like the world places some of these feelings on us...like the need to be the "perfect" 1950's wife and mother, however I agree with you Ash that God wants us to follow our hearts and our own desires. We, as fleshly humans, place so many people on a pedastal that we try and place ourselves on it as well when in reality we will all fail in being perfect and we will fall from glory but having God's grace to pick us up is unbelievable. How he loves us unconditionally is so hard to imagine!
